"Every Mason is, at his core, a golden soul. Yet the rough and tumble of the profane world can leave us feeling “copper” – tarnished, imperfect, or unworthy. The Cornerstone program, through the strengthening influence of regular, active, and harmonious lodge life, gives each of us a true and perfect ashlar upon which to build ourselves anew. With labour and brotherly support we are enabled to chip away and finally shatter that copper coating, revealing the pure gold that was always within.

As that personal transformation occurs, the overflowing cup of the lodge – and of each renewed brother – pours golden light downward, filling the cracks and gaps in the cornerstones of those who will follow, thereby raising successive generations on an ever-more-perfect foundation.

I feel this short sequence speaks directly to the higher purpose of the Cornerstone initiative: not merely better lodges, but better Masons – polished, golden, and ready to let our light so shine before men."
