Meet Your District Deputy Grand Master
R.W. Bro. Cox was born in Etobicoke in 1972 and was raised and educated in the small town of Stayner, Ontario. His early years laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service and learning. In 1990, driven by a sense of duty, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces Army Communications Reserve at C.F.B. Borden. His commitment and discipline earned him the rank of Corporal, and he served honorably until his discharge in 1995. During this period, he also pursued his education at Scarborough’s Centennial College, qualifying as a Primary Care Paramedic in 1994.
His passion for emergency medical services led him to begin contract work with Sudbury Land Paramedic Services in 1996. Recognizing the importance of advanced skills and embracing his childhood love of aviation, he furthered his education at Sunnybrook & Women’s College Hospitals, the Michener Institute of Health Sciences, and the Ontario Ministry of Health, earning his designation as an Advanced Care Flight Paramedic (ACP[F]) in 1998. That same year marked the start of his collaboration with Ornge (Ontario) Air Ambulance, where he later attained certification as a Critical Care Flight Paramedic (CCP[F]).

By 2000, John was based in Northwestern Ontario, notably in Dryden and Sioux Lookout. His career was multifaceted; alongside his medical pursuits, he owned and operated a successful convenience and liquor store, and a café that featured live entertainment in Wabigoon from 2003 to 2011. His leadership qualities shone through as he served as a CCP(F) Field Training Officer for the Ornge Academy of Transport Medicine from 2004 to 2012, while also contributing as a Professor of Paramedics at Confederation College’s Dryden campus.
A pivotal moment in his career occurred at the 2010 G8 Summit in Muskoka, when he was assigned as the personal emergency medical associate for all of the G8 leaders. That same year, following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, John participated in humanitarian medical missions, once accompanied by his wife, providing vital care amidst the mountains of Titanyen.
His dedication to global humanitarian efforts deepened when he returned to Port-au-Prince in 2017 to assist in training of Haiti’s first Critical Care Paramedics at Haiti Air Ambulance. His tireless work earned him the Ontario Paramedic Association Chiefs Humanitarian Award. The following year, he was further honored with the Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal, presented by L. Col. Richard Rohmer on behalf of the Governor General of Canada.
In 2020, John expanded his service again internationally by working with Coalition Special Operations Forces in the Middle East as a Search and Rescue/Combat Paramedic. Simultaneously, he pursued a Master’s Degree in Paramedicine at Charles Sturt University in Australia, further enriching his expertise. His ongoing commitment to service led him to roles such as an Emergency Department Critical Care Paramedic with the Government of Nunavut in Pond Inlet and Grise Fiord during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2021-2023.
Today, he is contracted with FortisBC and SMJV, providing onsite Industrial Advanced Emergency Medical Services for the Eagle Mountain Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project in British Columbia.
On the personal front, John is happily married to his wife Noreen. Together, they raised four children—Andrew, Rebecca, Kelsay, and Claudia—on a small hobby farm in Dinorwic, Ontario, embodying a life rooted in family, community, and service.
Initiated 11 October 2016, Passed 22 May 2017 and Raised 10 June 2017. Senior Steward 2018-19, Senior Decan 2022-23, Junior Warden 2023-24, Worshipful Master 2024-25, Immediate Past Master 2025. Webmaster for Golden Star Lodge No. 484 and Western District since 2023. Royal Arch Mason 16 May 2023.

Meet Your District Secretary
W. Bro. Kirouac was born in 1973 in Dryden, Ontario, and raised in a small community called Red Lake Road. Growing up surrounded by nature and a tight-knit community shaped a lot of who I am—grounded, curious, and always driven to build meaningful connections.

In high school, sports were my thing, and football eventually took me to college in Minnesota. It was there I met Barb, the love of my life. We moved back to Dryden after school and got married in 1995. Since then, we’ve built an incredible life together with our three amazing kids—Alyssa, Callie, and Troy—and now two beautiful granddaughters, Blake and Brynn. Our dogs, Sophie and Randle, round out the family fun. Professionally, I spent years in the family contracting business, doing a bit of everything—operating heavy equipment, turning wrenches and managing large work crews. In 2009, I took a leap and

joined Sysco Foods as a Sales Consultant. . I found my stride there, earning top sales consultant in Canada multiple times and becoming a Vested Torchbearer more than ten times—a recognition I’m proud of, not just for the awards but for the relationships built along the way.

My Masonic journey began a little differently. Back in 2003, I attended a Masonic funeral for Barb’s great uncle. It was a quiet Wednesday afternoon, and over 40 Masons showed up in full regalia. The ceremony, the symbolism, the unity—it left a mark on me. That day I found out Barb’s grandfather was also a Mason. We talked a lot afterward, and those conversations helped open the door to something I’d been searching for without quite realizing it. In 2006, I knocked on the door myself and was initiated that November. I was passed in January 2007, raised that May, and sat in the East as Master of our Lodge in 2014–15. Over the years, I’ve stayed deeply involved—working on our Lodge’s building revitalization, serving as President of the Building Corporation, and enjoying every opportunity to contribute. I’ve also taken part in the concordant bodies—Shrine, York Rite, and Scottish Rite—which have deepened my understanding of the Craft and expanded my circle of Brotherhood.
Outside the Lodge room, I stay busy and active. I love the outdoors—hiking, fishing, traveling, and spending as much time as possible at the cottage on Eagle Lake, especially with the grandkids. I’m a reader, a fitness guy, and a lifelong football fan. An experience from my youth—being at Cape Canaveral when the Challenger shuttle exploded—left a lasting impact on me. It stirred something inside that led to a lifelong desire to seek out the “why” behind life’s big questions. Freemasonry became one of the most meaningful ways for me to explore those questions, surrounded by good men and timeless values.

To me, being a Mason isn’t about titles or ceremonies—it’s about learning, growing, and doing your part for something bigger than yourself. And that’s a journey I’m grateful to be on.
